All About Our Camps!

FAQ for Parents

Can I enroll my child in more than one camp? Are sibling or multi-camp discounts available?

Yes! In fact, we encourage it. Each program is completely different, so your child can enjoy multiple camps without repeating activities. We also offer a discount when you register for multiple camps. For camps registered through our website, please use code MULTICAMP for in-person camps.

Who are the Mad Science camp instructors?

Our instructors are college students pursuing science/education degrees, with some holding master’s or PhD-level qualifications. They bring energy, enthusiasm, and a love of science to inspire young minds. Our team also includes former and certified teachers. All instructors pass thorough background checks and have experience working with children.

+

What is the child to instructor ratio?

The child to instructor ratio varies depending on enrollment. We always have at least one Expert Instructor for every 12-15 students. Most locations also feature assistants and volunteers to ensure every 'Jr. Mad Scientist' gets the attention they deserve!

+

Can a camp cancel by Mad Science?

Mad Science camps are registration based. If we do not reach the minimum number (6-9 children), we would have to cancel the camp. If this might happen, we touch base with all parents a week prior to the camp to present options. If a camp cancels, parents will receive a refund within 7-10 days.

+

What is your refund policy?

Requests made more than 30 days before camp will receive a full credit toward another week or a full refund minus a 15% administrative fee. Requests made 1–30 days before camp will receive a full credit toward another week or a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued after camp begins or if a child is dismissed due to behavioral issues.

+

What to bring/wear?

Campers should bring nut-free lunch (except at the Lone Star College location), water, and morning and afternoon snacks. Please ensure campers: Wear comfortable clothing Wear tennis shoes with both closed toes and closed heels (required) Apply sunscreen before arriving each morning, as campers will have brief outdoor time

+

What will my child gain from Mad Science Camp?

We transform curiosity into a lifelong habit of exploration. We empower children to become self-motivated learners through immersive STEM experiences that spark excitement and build confidence. Our hands-on experiments allow children to see, touch, and experience science firsthand—bringing concepts to life in meaningful and memorable ways.

+

Will my child spend time outside? Do you offer before or after care?

Some of the program experiences can involve outdoor fun; however, this depends upon the host site property and current weather conditions. At no time will children leave the program location. Before and after care is available at select locations. Options are available immediately after choosing camp week.

Here's what parents have to say about our camps!

My son attended the Earth, Space & Beyond Mad Science Camp last summer and absolutely loved it! The hours were convenient for our family, and the location was close by for us. We're sending him again to a Mad Science camp this upcoming summer. These are well run camps, in our experience, and I recommend them for people looking for a fun, science-based camp experience.

Both of our boys did Mad Science summer camps when they were younger, and loved the experience! It was a very fun and interactive experience for them. And counselor Beth Morrell is the best!!!

Jennifer

My son participated in a true "camp" with horses, swimming, fishing and hiking and he was MORE excited about this camp than anything else he's done all summer. Great job on your end!
